Trauma Recovery Training
February 8, 9, & 10, 2019
Registration is closed.
Grace Point Church will host a Trauma Recovery training for people who wish to assist those who have experienced serious life trauma (loss of homes, life, refugees, etc). The training will be led by Baptist Global Response.
At this initial equipping session, participants learn basic biblical and mental health principles related to trauma care, explore if they themselves are carrying any wounds of trauma or loss, and bring those to Christ for healing. You will learn to lead groups in a participatory manner, learn the program model, and develop plans for using what you learn in your community.
Trauma healing facilitators aim to “do no harm” to those they help. To this end, participants are evaluated during the equipping session. A simple test measures mastery of content. A short practice facilitation exercise includes feedback on facilitator strengths and suggestions to address areas needing improvement.
The Trauma Healing Institute at American Bible Society equips and supports a global community of workers in trauma care, helping local churches, national Bible Societies, and other NGOs to bring Bible-based trauma healing to the world’s hurting people. See their site at TraumaHealingInstitute.org.
Topics we will be considering…
- If God Loves me why do I suffer?
- Heart Wounds
- What happens when someone is grieving?
- Forgiveness… is it possible?
We are sorry, but there is no childcare available for this event.
