Praying for the Little Horse People
Grace Point Church is joining in prayer for the Little Horse people group in East Asia. In this episode, Caleb Gabriele interviews a missionary to the area.
1. Is the thought of praying for something or someone for twelve weeks overwhelming to you? Why or why not?
2. Let’s talk about our prayer lives. What is your perspective on prayer? When have you been frustrated in prayer, and when have you seen God move in powerful ways to answer your prayers?
3. Do you pray believing God will answer your prayer? Why or why not?
4. Take a moment to think about your prayer life over the past week. Could (or would) the world look any different if God answered your prayers based on how you prayed over the past seven days?
5. Read Acts 12:1-19 as a group.
6. Why is the response of the church to Peter’s imprisonment important in this passage?
7. Does “earnest prayer” characterize a part of your life? Why or why not?
8. Why is the church’s response in verse 15 especially fascinating in light of their prayers?
9. Have you ever been surprised when God answered your prayer? Explain.
10. What might change in the church if we were united in prayer? What about the world?
The church was faithfully praying for Peter during his imprisonment. Without a movement from God, Peter would have stayed in chains and would not have miraculously escaped.
What we are hoping to happen in the town of Little Horse is humanly impossible because of government corruption and control, geographical limitations, the centuries-long stronghold of idol worship, and many other reasons. Simply throwing money at the Little Horse people won’t change hearts.
Transformed hearts do not happen from our strength, but rather from a movement of the Holy Spirit! And we know that with God, all things are possible (Matthew 19:26). Please join Grace Point as we commit to twelve weeks of prayer for the people of Little Horse!
