Welcome to Day 1!
You made it back for day one!! I’m telling you that in itself is an accomplishment, because when a mom decides she is going to become a prayer warrior for her children, you can bet that will perk the ears of the enemy. Why you ask, because now you are really in the fight for your children on a much deeper level. So, hats off to you, sister!!
I hope you took a few minutes to watch the video, and if you did, you heard me share that God pressed on my heart a few months ago something that went a little like this -- “Jessica, you are parenting your kids out of fear instead of the authority you have as my daughter.” I was like, WOW, I so am doing that, but I also knew I wanted to stop doing it. I don’t want to parent through the lens of anxiety, worry and discouragement but rather lens of God’s wisdom, counsel, peace and with the certainty we have as His daughters, that He will not ever abandon us or our children.
Praying For Yourself as a Mom! It’s an important place to start!!
Ladies, it’s hard to pray and cover our children, when we are drawing from an “empty cup.” With that said, we are beginning this journey by first praying for ourselves.
As moms, one thing we know is hard days are going to come.
Even when our children are infants, things happen that can shake us to our “momma core.” When you begin to feel yourself slipping into the space of parenting with fear leading verses God leading, let that be a flag to get back to your Heavenly Father. It doesn’t matter if you have to come to him laying on the floor of your bathroom or standing in your front yard yelling at the Heaven’s, just make yourself go to Him. So many times, we want to run the situation through our head over and over, which pushes worry and discouragement to take over. Instead, we must condition ourselves to stop and turn to God…….talk to Him. It’s a deal changer, ladies!
“I know The Lord is ALWAYS with me. I will not be shaken, for He is right beside me. Psalm 16:8
So, Psalm 16:8 is a “go to” for me, and we are going to start our seven-day praying scripture journey with this little beast of a verse. I can’t say I’m the best at memorizing, but this one is tucked away in my heart for quick access.
When personalizing and praying a scripture over yourself, your kids, or anyone, you simply just take the words of it and what is on your heart and pray it back to God. It is simple, yes, but it’s so powerful, and I’ve found that many people don’t think to do it. Say it with sincerity and be real with God. REAL! And then stay in it with Him – meaning don’t expect Him to do all the work. A relationship with God requires Him, yes, for sure, but it also requires for you and I to be active. We have a very important part to play!
Imagine your relationship with your kids. If you are the only one putting out the effort, and you are the only one who really wants to see the change, and your child just wants things to “magically” happen, you might not make it too far. Both of you have to want it and put in the time. God doesn’t want a one-sided relationship with us, where He’s the only one truly invested, but if you put in the time with Him, you will see Him move.

Let's Do This!
If you have a journal, grab it, and pen your prayer there. If you don’t, grab a piece of paper, or perhaps you like to pray aloud. Whatever that looks like for you, just find your way and go to God and pray for yourself and bring this scripture into your prayer.
I have included a few examples of the way I have prayed this scripture for myself over the years. I know sometimes it helps me if I can see someone else do something first. If you think it would be helpful to see, scroll down to the bottom and take a look.
Love you ladies…we are on our way to talk to the Father, and I promise, He cannot wait to hear from us.
A FEW EXAMPLES
“Father, as your Word says, I KNOW you are ALWAYS with me, and I will not be shaken, for You are right here, right now, right beside me. I’m sorry when I doubted this earlier in the week, when I gave in to hopelessness and fear. I will say it again, Lord, You are with me. You are with me. You.Are.With.Me. When I feel the enemy coming at me and my kids, and my family, I will just point him to You, because You are right beside me. You have no authority here, satan, and you are messing with the wrong momma, because my God is so much more than You. I am His daughter, and my kids are His children. I will not bow to fear. Thank You, Father, that I can claim these Words as my truth. Amen”
“Dear God, it’s a new week, and life is good. Thank you for this season when my kid’s faces are full of smiles and laughter, and Father, I thank you that as Your daughter, I can know that You will continue to be with me; You are right beside me, and in this I can STAND. I don’t have to be shaken, because you have us, and I am so thankful for all the ways I can see that in our lives right now. Amen”
“Oh Father, I am tired, I am weak, and I don’t know what to do or how much more I can take. I know Your Word says that You are always with me, that I do not have to be shaken, for You are right beside me. Lord, here I am laying on the floor, and I just can’t bring myself to get up, BUT I will still lift my eyes to You. I can’t do this without You! Let’s lay here a little bit longer, Father, and then I promise I will stand in Your strength. Love You, Lord. Amen”
P.S. My prayers can tend to be pretty long, because, well, I can be a talker. But in my defense, God knew that when He made me. So, while I usually share with Him all the things, I wanted to share these short prayers, because the important thing is not the length of your prayer, but your heart. Also, know you can voice short prayers throughout the day to keep yourself where you need to be – connected to Him.
