It's Day 2!!

We are doing this thing, and I’m so proud of us!

Isn’t it true, that we can get so caught up in praying away our children’s hurts and struggles, that we forget the number one prayer is that their heart belongs to Christ, and that their relationship with Him is growing daily. Every other prayer pales in importance when compared to this one. That is why today, we are focusing on just that…..not their struggle, but their relationship with Him.

I was listening to a song this morning, and a lyric really stuck out to me, “Don’t think the battle is over just because you say “Amen.” Yep, that one stopped me in my tracks. Just because our child may have accepted Jesus as their Savior, doesn’t mean their relationship will always be strong, but as their moms, we can sure pray to that end.

I look at my own life, and I know there was a season where I was distant from God. I remember somebody saying to me, that when we get off on our own path, we stay longer than we ever thought we would and lose more than we could have ever dreamed, and that was for sure true for me.

But my experiences from that season, made me determined to try and teach my children how to do life with God and cover them with prayer. Hear me when I say, the number of times I have fallen short in this effort are many. I have had my fair share of times where I was balled up in my closet in tears, pretty sure I had failed them. But again, what’s important is that we don’t stay in that posture, but we dust ourselves off, reach our hand out to God, and STAND, ready to get back in the battle and cover our children in prayer.

One scripture in my Bible, where you will find the names of every one of my children, grandchildren, my son-in-law, and daughter-in-law is Ephesians 3:16-19. This beauty is among the strongest scripture prayers that we can cover our children with. It goes like this…. “I pray that from His glorious, unlimited resources, God will empower you with inner strength through His Spirit. Then Christ will make His home in your hearts as you trust in Him. Your roots will grow down into God’s love and keep you strong. And may you have the power to understand, as all God’s children should, how wide, how long, how high, and how deep His love is. May you experience the love of Christ though it is too great to understand fully. Then you will be made complete with all the fullness of life and power that comes from God.”

I have tears just typing it. In the depths of our momma’s heart, we can pray this verse will define the way our kids walk with Christ. And if they do turn away, us going to the Father and praying this scripture over them is powerful! Let’s go to Him now.

Oh God, hear us. Your daughters need you, and we know you are listening.

A Few Examples of Praying This Scripture

“Father God, I need this to be easier, I need to know things are going to work out, but the only thing I do know is that I am not alone, and that you have Leyton in Your hands and on Your heart. Thank You for that, Father. Dear Lord I pray that from Your glorious, unlimited resources, that you will empower Leyton with inner strength through Your Spirit. That you will make Your home in his heart. Lord, I pray with everything I am that Leyton will trust in You. That his roots will grow down into Your love, and that you will keep him strong. And may he have the power to understand, as Your son, how wide, how long, how high, and how deep Your love for him is. May Leyton experience your love, God. I know it’s too great for him to understand fully, but Lord, please open his heart and mind to experience it and be made complete with all the fullness of life and power that comes from You, His God.”

“Heavenly, Father, You are so moving in Leyton’s life. He is experiencing you. I can see it, he can see it, and I am so incredibly grateful. Father, I pray that he never forgets the way he is experiencing you in his life right now. I pray that from Your glorious, unlimited resources, that You will continue to empower Leyton with inner strength through Your Spirit. That today and always, You will make Your home in his heart and that Leyton will always trust in You. Lord, may the roots of Leyton’s life keep growing down into Your love and keep him strong. And may he have the power to understand, as Your son, how wide, how long, how high, and how deep Your love is. May Leyton continue to experience Your love though it is too great to understand fully. Then, Father, he will be made complete with all the fullness of life and power that comes from You, his God.”
